Wizard
- The most challenging and fun card game is Wizard. To prove it: Ask a family that owns Wizard. Euchre and Oh! Hell enthusiasts love Wizard.

Party game vs. Card game
- I don't think I consider Time's Up or Dixit card games. I consider them to be Party games that use cards. I never got what was so great about Dominion, but I love the rest, especially Wyatt Earp and Citadels.

Not a Puerto Rico "variant"
- I am not sure what Erik has against RftG; its clearly a top 10 *game*, never mind a top 10 card game. The creation of it is *not* just a derivative of Puerto Rico (see the designer's own comments at http://www.boardgamenews.com/index.php/boardgamenews/comments/game_preview_race_for_the_galaxy_designer_preview_1/) so that argument does not hold. Personally, I think the games as they are played have a very very different feel. Maybe there is some other reason for this strange omission?

Race for the Galaxy
- Thanks for all the feedback, everyone! Just to clearify something -- the reason that Race for the Galaxy is not on this list is that is was created as a card game version of Puerto Rico, and I decided early on not to include any card game versions of games on my Top 20 Board Games of the 2000s list (Puerto Rico is #1 on that list). Whether or not RftG really meets that criteria, since it was released with a completely different theme, can be debated. But that was my logic, for better or worse.

RftG
- Have to agree. How can you have Dominion at #1 and not even mention RftG? It's my personal #1, but I would still think it deserves to at least make a top 10 list.

R4tG
- Yes, good list, but Race for the Galaxy should definitely be on it... :)

Race for the Galaxy
- My favorite card game of the 2000s is Race for the Galaxy. I've probably played it more than 100 times, and it has not gotten old yet. (It was first developed as a version of a card game based on the board game Puerto Rico, but now it is set in outer space.)
