Guide Review - Star Wars Attacktix

When you first see Attacktix, it may look more like a set of action figures than a game. But don't hesitate to buy it -- there's a great game inside that package. The only bad news is that the starter set's five figures aren't enough for a good battle, so you'll want to buy at least one booster pack right away.

The figures come from Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, including General Grievous, Darth Vader and Yoda. Each character is worth 10 to 40 points; at the start of a game, players draft a team worth up to 100 points. The goal is to knock down all of your opponents' figures. Characters with higher point values are better in battle, harder to eliminate, or both.

On your turn, you move as many of your figures as you want to by sliding them across the tabletop up to the number of clicks listed on their base. For example, Mace Windu can move up to 10 clicks; a battle droid can only move four. You then attack with two different figures. Most characters fire missles at opponents. Many use light sabers to attack. Still others have Force shields which they fire at opponents, but which are more powerful than the missles.

When one of your characters is knocked out, check the bottom of its base to see if its special power is activated. Special powers can, for example, bring eliminated characters back into the game or give you a free attack. Attacktix is a great way to spend a lazy afternoon, a game that's all about having fun.
