Bruno Faidutti likes a little chaos in his games. And none of his games could really be called predictable. These are my picks for the five best games designed by Bruno Faidutti.
Players try to collect the most valuable buildings, but the players also control characters (e.g. assassin, king, thief), each of which has a special ability to affect the game. Citadels is one of the few games that plays well with 2 to 7 players.
Killing dragons: easy. Splitting the loot: difficult. After slaying the fearsome beasts, players have to negotiate among themselves to divde the spoils. And they have to do the dividing in 60 seconds or less -- or else nobody gets any loot at all.
3. Murder in the Abbey
Faidutti describes Murder in the Abbey as a "zany and chaotic whodunnit game." He also says that it is, "of all the games I've created, the most fun and the most interesting." Loosely based on the novel "The Name of the Rose," Murder in the Abbey challenges players to uncover the murderer of Brother Adelme.Trying to thrive as cavemen isn't as easy as it looks in the movies. There are hungry sabretooth tigers to deal with, not to mention rival tribes who would love to do you in. And don't forget how unforgiving nature can be.
Players try to bribe their way into winning public contracts, trying to secure the most valuable while shutting out their opponents. But you can also play reporters (to reveal your opponents' corruption) and hitmen, so don't count on things being quite what they seem.
