Gameplay in Brief:

Players control a variety of races in Small World -- including dwarves, wizards, amazons, giants, orcs and humans -- as they attempt to earn points by conquering territories and maintaining control. The game comes with 14 races and 20 special powers; expansions which add new races and powers are also available.

Small World is for 2 to 5 players, ages 8 and up. About 90 minutes per game.

Expansions:

Two expansions were published in 2009: Cursed! and The Grand Dames of Small World. Cursed! introduces the Kobolds and Goblin races along with five special powers: Cursed, Hordes of, Marauding, Ransacking, and Were-. The Grand Dames of Small World will feature the Priestesses, White Ladies, and Gypsies, along with the Historian and Peace-Loving special powers. A third expansion, Tales & Legends of Small World, is scheduled to be available in 2010.

Awards:

Small World was named 2009 Game of the Year by Games magazine.
