Gameplay in Brief:
Two players each place their flag, bombs, and troops on the battlefield without knowing where his opponent is placing his. Once the armies are in place, players take turns advancing their men. When two pieces occupy the same spot, both are revealed and the weaker piece is removed from the game. The goal is to be the first to discover your opponent's flag.
Basics:
For 2 players, ages 8 and up. About 30 minutes per game.
Designer:
According to BoardGameGeek.com, Stratego was designed by Jacques Johan Mogendorf. In 2005, an Oregon woman filed suit in federal court claiming that her father invented a game on which Stratego is based. However, that lawsuit was dismissed.
Publisher:
Stratego was originally published in 1947 by Milton Bradley, which is now part of Hasbro. It has also been published by Jumbo and several other game publishers.
