Coverage of the 2005 American International Toy Fair

By Erik Arneson, About.com

This summer's animated film from DreamWorks, Madagascar, has inspired the release of two children's board games announced by Hasbro at the 2005 American International Toy Fair.

The film follows four best-friend animals who have lived their entire lives at the Central Park Zoo but are put put on a boat to Africa and suddenly find themselves on the exotic island of Madagascar.

Madagascar: Race to Escape the Island and Sorry! Madagascar will both be for 2 to 4 players, ages 6 and up. They're expected to be available in late April 2005.

Here's additional information from a Hasbro press release and Toy Fair:

Madagascar: Race to Escape the Island

Players travel through the island of Madagascar with the four animals (Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe and Gloria the Hippo), trying to roll the die and play the right cards to escape the pack of Foosa and get back to the boat.

Sorry! Madagascar

In this special edition of Sorry!, players each select their team of movie characters and compete to be the first team to make it through Madagascar and back to the boat. The Sorry! cards include quotable lines from the movie. The gameplay is identical to the original Sorry! game.
