On Sept. 12, 2006, Hasbro unveiled the properties and player tokens to be featured in the U.S. edition of Monopoly Here & Now, a version of the classic real estate game which also updates property values, changes railroads to airports, and trades the electric company and water works for a cell phone service and an Internet service provider.
In the spring of 2006, Hasbro asked people to vote online to help choose the new properties. These votes determined which landmarks from 22 pre-determined cities made it onto the board, as well as the location of the landmarks on the board.
