Mancala is an ancient, abstract board game with roots that can be traced back to between 500 and 700 AD. Evidence of Mancala games have been found by archaeologists in Aksumite Ethiopia in Matara (now in Eritrea) and Yeha (in Ethiopia).
It is for two players, ages 8 and up.
Here are five great places to play Mancala online.
This is a very nice Flash implementation of Mancala for one player against a computer opponent with three difficulty levels. There is also a version at the same site featuring snails in place of stones.
A computer opponent with six skill levels ranging from "kindergarten" to "graduate school" will challenge you here. Other options can also be set, including the number of stones per hole (4 to 6), and who goes first. You can also choose to play Mancala against a human opponent.
Here, the only option is to play against a single computer opponent.
Playing against a human opponent is the only option at this site.
