The first Halo ActionClix set features more than 80 unique miniature figures from the Halo universe, including preview content from the Halo 3 videogame. There are two main booster pack varieties: a $10 pack (with four game figures and stat cards, two dice and a start-up map), and an $11 pack (with five figures and stat cards, two dice and two start-up maps).

Halo ActionClix combines the core Clix game mechanics (the combat dial and combat resolution system) with popular features from Halo, such as respawning and weapon-swapping. Gameplay replicates the multiplayer aspect of the Halo game; players field teams in battles of Halo's USNC, Covenant or mixed teams.

Each game piece has a unique combat dial which lists their constantly changing stats, and a character card which lists the piece's specific abilities. Using different "move and shoot" capabilities, as well as blocking terrain (walls and debris), players move their pieces and vy for the best shot to take down their opponent's pieces. Each time a player eliminates an opponent's piece, they receive a kill token. The first player to collect five kill tokens wins the game.

An average game of Halo ActionClix should take two players about 45 minutes.
