The Basics:

Twister, designed by Reyn Guyer, was first published by Milton Bradley in 1966.

Why Scrabble is Part of the Games Timeline:

Twister is the ultimate dexterity game, requiring players to bend their own bodies into interesting shapes in order to win.

Check out the other games I've chosen as the most culturally and historically significant games published since 1800.

More About Twister:

A game which challenges players to use their entire body, Twister became an instant hit soon after its introduction when Johnny Carson played the game with Eva Gabor on The Tonight Show. Players use a spinner to determine which extremity has to be placed on which color circle on the floor mat. The goal os Twister is to last as long as possible without touching the ground with any except your hands and feet.
