Gameplay in Brief:

Based on the Sci Fi Channel television series of the same name, Battlestar Galactica is a semi-cooperative board game. Each player takes the role of a character from the show (10 characters are available) as they work together to save humanity. Among the obstacles players will face are enemy ships, robot invaders, and dwindling resources. Further complicating things, greatly, is the fact that one or more characters in every game are secretly enemy Cylons.

Basics:

For 3 to 6 players, ages 10 and up. About three hours per game.

Designer:

Battlestar Galactica was designed by Corey Konieczka.

Publisher:

Battlestar Galactica was published by Fantasy Flight Games. As with most games published by Fantasy Flight, the components are excellent.

Genre:

Battlestar Galactica is a semi-cooperative board game with a science fiction theme.

Also by Corey Konieczka:

Corey Konieczka also designed or co-designed Space Hulk: Death Angel (2010), Tide of Iron (2007), StarCraft: The Board Game (2007), Warrior Knights (2006), and World of Warcraft: the Adventure Game (2008).

Awards:

Battlestar Galactica was my pick as the #3 board game of 2008.

Expansions:

The Pegasus expansion, released in the fall of 2009, adds two new supplemental game boards featuring the Battlestar Pegasus and the planet of New Caprica, along with seven new characters, a new Cylon locations overlay, two plastic Basestars, and a variety of new cards.

The Exodus expansion, scheduled to be released in the winter of 2010-11, will add three options: Conflicted Loyalty (two sets of new loyalty cards), a Cylon Fleet board (so Crisis cards always activate the enemy), and Ionian Nebula (adding non-player characters).
