"Refreshed" Diplomacy

For this release, Avalon Hill wisely decided not to mess with a winning formula. Diplomacy is on my list of Desert Island Board Games because of its masterful design.

"The gameplay is unchanged," Foster said. "It will have the same theming, the same rules and so on. What is different is that we spent a lot of money on the art. The whole thing is completely re-illustrated throughout."

The new version will include colorful metal ships and cannons in place of the plastic anchors and stars that were found in previous editions. The ships, Foster added, will be similar to (but larger than) the battleship token found in the Deluxe edition of Monopoly.

Diplomacy is for 4-8 players.
