Heal Thyself

HMOnopoly
Created by Dr. Jefferson Fairbanks and available for free download, this game encourages players to become the dominant provider of health care services. Start with $18 million and see how many practices, clinics or hospitals you can buy! Requires game pieces and money, as well as a color printer. Many of the rules are similar to Monopoly, but the game also includes new rules which significantly change the playing dynamics.

Infection
Dan Sullivan's game of diseases and cures. Race to make yourself healthy before your opponents can do the same.

Kill Doctor Lucky
Not exactly a medical board game, but it involves a doc -- and happens to be one of my favorite games. Players wander his mansion, using various weapons in an attempt to speed Doc Lucky's demise.

Medical Monopoly
Four hospitals (players) race against one another to be the first to fill up all available beds with patients. Game designer James N. Vail says it gives players an accurate lesson in anatomy, first aid and the elementary practice of medicine, and the game is used by several school districts to teach health care.

Operation
Players use a set of tweezers to remove various body parts from an unfortunate patient. If the tweezers touch the sides, a buzzer sounds and you must relinquish your surgical tool. If you know of a Web site for this one, send email to boardgames.guide@about.com.
