Analysis
Let's begin with an examination of the previous Survivor winners' favorite board games.
- Richard Hatch, winner of Survivor Pulau Tiga, listed Balderdash as his favorite board game.
- Tina Wesson, winner of Survivor Outback, listed Balderdash as her favorite board game.
- Ethan Zohn, winner of Survivor Africa, listed Boggle, Backgammon and Pictionary as his favorite board games.
- Vecepia Towery, winner of Survivor Marquesas, listed Boggle, Othello and Scrabble as her favorite board games.
What do these players have in common? Obviously, the first two winners listed Balderdash and the most recent two winners listed Boggle. For Survivor Thailand, none of the contestants listed Boggle -- but Tanya did list Balderdash, making her my early favorite to win.
But surely knowing who likes those two games by itself is not enough information to accurately predict a winner. So if you theorize that the key is to like a game beginning with B, then you could count Backgammon and Banzai Rummy, games listed by Brian, Jake, John and Ted.
But my wife correctly pointed out that Balderdash and Boggle are both word games -- which probably is a more important factor than the fact that they both begin with B. So Scrabble, Scattergories, Taboo and Outburst must be considered; those games were listed by Shii Ann, Tanya, Clay and Jed.
Tanya likes Balderdash and she likes Taboo -- two word games. Shii Ann also likes two word games, but neither is Balderdash or Boggle.
All of which leads me to this conclusion, backing up my initial gut feeling:
Tanya will be the winner of Survivor Thailand.
