Why It's Significant (in 25 words or less): Acquire is probably the most enduring game design from master designer Sid Sackson and it introduced a new wave of strategy games to many adults.

More About Acquire: Sackson is one of the most prolific and productive American game designers of all time, and until his death in 2002 owned what is believed to be the largest game collection in the world.

Originally conceived as a game about the development and merging of hotel chains, the most recent edition of Acquire (published in 2000 by Avalon Hill) changed the theme slightly to become a game about corporate mergers. The goal is to strategically invest in the companies most likely to benefit from the mergers.
