Either available now or very soon (September 2002) are Freeloader, Fightball, and Lord of the Fries (LotF is a color edition of the Cheapass classic).
Freeloader is a traditional Cheapass Game about wandering the neighborhood and borrowing everybody's stuff. It features all-new art by Cheyenne Wright. "What delayed it? Problems with fonts," according to Cheapass. "Half our apostrophes turned into e's with hats on them." Freeloader is a $7.50 board game for 3 to 6 players.
Fightball is a real-time sports game (think Brawl with basketballs) illustrated by Brazilian cartoonist Eduardo Muller (Diceland: Deep White Sea). This game comes in three boxes, each with two different teams of Fightball players, and each box costs $15. Fightball was designed by James Ernest and Mike Selinker. "It's late because our printer is experimenting with a new system that makes sure the decks have just slightly different mixes of cards than we expected."
Lord of the Fries is a colorized version of the Cheapass classic. The black-and-white version of Lord of the Fries will go out of print and be replaced by this full-color version. Color Fries contains even more cards than the popular but limited "De-Lux" edition, as well as all seven menus with updated deck recipes for each. Color Fries comes in a two-deck tuck box (just like Girl Genius: The Works) and will sell for $15.
Also coming soon:
The next Diceland expansion, Infinite Space, features ships from the Cheapass Games computer game, Strange Adventures in Infinite Space. They plan to ship it before the end of the year.
Give Me The Brain is getting the color treatment just like Lord of the Fries, probably also this year.
Kill Doctor Lucky - the Director's Cut is the eighth printing of Cheapass' most popular game, will appear whenever the company sells the rest of the current edition.
Three new Hip Pocket Games, including Light Speed, a real-time space combat game designed by Tom Jolly, Steam Tunnel and a souped-up edition of the Cheapass Gen Con freebie SWAG, are in the works for early next year.
Also scheduled for early 2003 is a limited edition OGRE Diceland expansion (under license from Steve Jackson Games).
Boardgame news included here is culled from various sources, including official company press releases and Web sites.
