In a press release announcing the game's release, the company said Casinopoly provides a new twist to many old favorites and can be played in two ways. First, it can be enjoyed on its own as a casino party board game, where someone becomes the big winner in head-to-head competition. Second, it can be used as a casino-style "add-on" to many traditional offerings, such as real estate property trading board games, bringing a new dimension to some of those games. It includes dice versions of the most popular casino games: blackjack, craps, roulette and slots, and is designed for 2-8 players.

Casinopoly was founded in 1998 by Eric Barnes and Craig Barnes, co-founders of Creativepro.com (formerly Extensis Corporation) in Portland, Oregon. The company’s goal is to create interactive games for families and friends and provide added value to current games by making them more fun, exciting and interactive.
