Dvonn, the fourth abstract game in the Project Gipf series by Kris Burm, is a stacking game with very simple rules. Played with three red Dvonn pieces, 23 white pieces and 23 black pieces, the goal is to control as many pieces as possible by building stacks, preferably by jumping on top of your opponent's pieces.

During the game, pieces and stacks must remain linked to the red Dvonn pieces. If not, they are removed from the game. When no more moves can be made, players combine their own stacks into one large stack; the player with the largest stack wins.

Zertz, the third game in the Gipf series, was nominated for a 2001 Gamers' Choice Award by the Strategy Gaming Society. It also was nominated for the 2000 Spiel des Jahres, won a 2000 Mensa Select Award, and was named 2001 Abstract Strategy Game of the Year by Games magazine.

The other games in the series are Gipf (1997) and Tamsk (1999). Burm envisions the series to eventually include six games.

Dvonn is for 2 players, ages 9 and up; 15 minutes, retail price about $30. It is scheduled to be published in September or October 2001 by Rio Grande Games.
