Due in August 2001, The Lord of the Rings: The Search is a new two-player game which will be published in the U.S. by Rio Grande Games.

Designed by Peter Neugebauer, the game is rated for ages 10 and up; it plays in 30 to 40 minutes.

In The Search, Frodo and Sam must find Mount Doom so they can destroy the One Ring. They begin their journey in the Shire and explore Middle Earth, searching for Mount Doom. Along the way, they may meet other characters from J.R.R. Tolkien's epic Lord of the Rings novels.

The game features artwork by John Howe, a noted LotR illustrator who also provided the art for Reiner Knizia's Lord of the Rings game published by Hasbro.
