The 2001 World Boardgaming Championships, sponsored by the Boardgame Players Association, will be held June 26 to July 1 in Baltimore, Maryland, at the Hunt Valley Inn.

The main feature of the World Boardgaming Championships is a collection of tournaments for dozens of board games in a variety of genres. The list this year includes Acquire, Adel Verpflichtet, Advanced Civilization, Battle Cry, Blackbeard, Cosmic Encounter, Diplomacy, El Grande, Formula De, Pacific Victory, Panzerblitz, Risk, Union Pacific, We the People, and Wooden Ships and Iron Men.

Open gaming also is available for paid attendees, and Jay Tummelson of Rio Grande Games will host Cafe Jay, a place where you can learn to play the latest games imported from Germany and other European countries.

Registration forms -- with various pricing options -- are available at the Boardgame Players Association site, although daily guest passes will be available at the door for $20 per day.
