Hasbro's worldwide licensing agreement involves the first two Harry Potter books (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets) and theatrical films.
"We believe that Hasbro's creativity, market share and strength in these specific categories will bring a whole new level of play value to the Harry Potter property," said Dan Romanelli, president, Warner Bros. Worldwide Consumer Products.
"The millions of Harry Potter fans around the world are going to love seeing literary references to things like cards and candy come alive through our exciting range of offerings," said Alan G. Hassenfeld, Hasbro's chairman and CEO. "We are thrilled that Warner Bros. Worldwide Consumer Products has selected Hasbro to bring the magic into new and exciting worlds."
Other categories awarded to Hasbro include trading cards, candy and youth electronics.
The announcement did not include a timeline.
