Share your thoughts on this news and anything else related to board games on the Board Games Forum.

The site allows you to search the games database by title, company and/or author -- or to leave all three blank and browse all of the available titles in alphabetic order. Most games include a brief description, along with some basic information such as the number of players, age recommendations, etc.

One of the many highlights is the photo and description of esteemed game designer Reiner Knizia's upcoming take on J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings. Although not many details are available at this time, Spielen in Osterreich lists the following description, plenty to whet the appetite of Tolkien's many fans:

"The film based on Tolkien's famous fantasy novel will come into theatres by 2001 and Reiner Knizia is preparing a spezial treat for all fans of the subject: The film will be in three parts, the game will have four different boards, corresponding to famous locations from the novel: From The Shires to Trollheights, from Mirkwoods out into Gorgoroth of Mordor. And the game, too, will pose the eternal question: Who will win the struggle for the ring? Details not yet available, planned for publshing in October 2000."

The game is due out from German publisher Kosmos.
