I'm the Boss

This reprint of Sid Sackson's wild negotiation game Kohle, Kie$ & Knete is the first foray into board games for Monkey God Enterprises, a company known for its role-playing products. They plan to release it under the imprint Face 2 Face Games no later than the fourth quarter of 2003.

I'm the Boss will come with rules in English, French, Spanish and German, and it will feature all new graphics by William O'Connor. The investors, pictured on the game box, are based on Sackson and members of his family. The game is being printed in Germany, which should ensure a quality production.

I'm the Boss is for 3 to 6 players, ages 12 and up. Games take about 60 minutes to play. Suggested retail price is $39.95.

Company head Larry Whalen indicated that the game will include some variants based on Sackson's original rules, which he said were changed by the German game company Schmidt Spiele when Kohle, Kie$ & Knete was first published in 1994.

"In the hopes of making the game better, we are including a number of rule variants, some of which were just found this week [February 2003] when I visited the Sacksons and got ahold of the original rules," he said. "There are some substantial differences worth exploring."

Whalen also said that he's considering the possibility of publishing more of board games in the future, including more from Sackson, and a possible card game version of I'm the Boss.

"Face 2 Face Games plans on coming out with a strong line of board games from many designers," he said. "But at first we will be producing a number of Sid Sackson classics and new prototypes. Our goal is to produce quality games in play, appearance, and fun! I hope everyone finds we will live up to that promise."
