Age of Mythology
This board game, scheduled for release in August 2003, is based on the computer game Age of Mythology, a real-time strategy game from Ensemble Studios and Microsoft.
This is a miniatures-driven boardgame that includes more than 600 sculpted pieces, a giant (46" x 36") gameboard hand-illustrated by world-renowned artist Paul Niemeyer, and three sets of rules (basic, standard, advanced).
Players control armies made up of warriors, priests, heroes, and mythical creatures from ancient Greek, Egyptian, and Norse mythology. They gather resources, which allow them to create buildings and armies. Special buildings are required to allow players to build new army types and improve the abilities of their units. Battles are resolved with a unique dice and card system that keeps the action moving.
Attack! and Attack! Expansion
This is a new strategy board game of world conquest. Attack! and Attack! Expansion are scheduled for a June or July 2003 launch.
Attack! is the first world conquest game published in over forty years created specifically for a mainstream audience. Set in the World War II era, Attack! is designed for 2 to 4 players and features easy-to-learn rules that provide a fast-moving, exciting game that can be completed in an evening.
Attack! Expansion is being released concurrently with Attack!, and takes the game to a new level of detail. While other strategy games become predictable after a few playings, the Attack! system allows players to graduate to the next level. With Attack! Expansion players will get more miniatures, a gameboard expansion that can be added to the original to create a complete the map of the world that measures 24" x 60", and a more detailed rule set that can accommodate up to 6 players.
"I can't believe that there hasn't been a new world conquest game published in the last forty years that's easy enough to be enjoyed by a mainstream audience," said Eagle Games' president and head designer Glenn Drover. "We're excited to be able to fill this gap."
Attack! and Attack! Expansion will feature hundreds of detailed miniature plastic pieces, dazzling artwork by world-renowned artist Paul Niemeyer, and a unique, expandable game system.
Lord of the Rings
A children's board game based on J.R.R. Tolkien's popular series Lord of the Rings. An adventure featuring fun, simple gameplay for children ages 6 and up, Lord of the Rings is scheduled for an April 2003 launch.
During the game, players move their Hobbits through the familiar lands of Tolkien's Middle Earth, overcoming obstacles and braving encounters with fantastic creatures. The first player to move their Hobbit safely to Mt. Doom wins the game.
"We're very excited to be involved in the Lord of the Rings franchise," said Eagle Games' President and Head Designer Glenn Drover. Eagle Games is currently in discussion with the Lord of the Rings licensor regarding a future title aimed for adults.
Licensed from Sophisticated Games, U.K., this Lord of the Rings board game has been designed by award-winning author Reiner Knizia, and will feature artwork by the internationally acclaimed children's book illustrators Ingrid and Dieter Schubert.
