For Survivor Thailand, I chose Tanya.
Rob made it pretty far before being eliminated, but Tanya was the second player booted off.
But that won't stop me from making another prediction, after analyzing the favorite board games of all the contestants on Survivor Amazon, the sixth edition of this reality television show.
The contestants on Survivor Amazon have remarkably homogeneous taste in board games. The contestants on Survivor Marquesas listed 16 different games; Survivor Thailand contestants chose 19 different games. But the players on Survivor Amazon listed only 11 different games -- and one of those was a Ouija board, which doesn't really count.
More people (10) listed Monopoly than didn't (6). I've only run stats on Survivor Thailand, Survivor Marquesas, and Survivor Africa, but that's the most players listing one game to date. (For Survivor Africa, 9 players listed Monopoly.)
We'll see how the lack of gaming diversity translates into their personalities and Survivor game skills, but for now here's a quick-hit list of what games everyone likes, along with what will likely turn out to be a worthless prediction:
The Men
- Alex, 32, is a triathlon trainer who likes Monopoly and Trivial Pursuit.
- Butch, 50, is a middle school principal who plays Checkers and Monopoly.
- Daniel, 27, is a tax accountant and he plays Hungry Hungry Hippo. (Do you want your tax accountant playing Hungry Hungry Hippo?)
- Dave, 24, is a rocket scientist who likes Monopoly and Risk.
- Matthew, 33, is a restaurant designer who lists the Ouija Board as his favorite game. No wonder his popularity is at 24%.
- Rob, 24, is a computer projects coordinator who likes Monopoly and Chess.
- Roger, 56, is a vice-president of estimating (!) who likes Chess.
- Ryan, 23, is a model and actor who plays Monopoly.
- Christy, 24, is an adventure guide for deaf children (she herself is deaf) who enjoys Cribbage. This is the most exotic game listed by any of the players.
- Deena, 25, is a deputy district attorney who enjoys Monopoly.
- Heidi, 24, is a phys ed teacher who plays Scrabble.
- Janet, 47, is a travel agent who likes Monopoly and Trivial Pursuit.
- Jeanne, 41, is a marketing director who plays Monopoly and Scrabble.
- Jenna, 21, is a swimsuit model who enjoys Monopoly and True Colors (one of only two party games on the list, not counting Trivial Pursuit).
- JoAnna Ward, 31, is a guidance counselor who likes Chess, Monopoly, Checkers and Taboo (the other party game).
- Shawna, 23, is a clothing salesperson who enjoys Chess.
Based the fact that she has the most unique favorite game (among a set of contestants that doesn't have very creative taste in games), I predict that Christy will overcome any disadvantage of being deaf and she will win Survivor Amazon.
UPDATE: Christy was eliminated 11th. Jenna won it all.
