Uberplay and Eagle Games to Merge

Monday July 5, 2004
Rick Thornquist of Gamewire has broken the news that Uberplay, publisher of Oasis and Hoity Toity, will merge with Eagle Games, publisher of Age of Mythology and Civilization: The Boardgame. Thornquist spoke to principals of both companies at Origins 2004.

On July 5, 2004, Uberplay's Jeremy young posted the following comments to a public discussion group:

"Uberplay and Eagle have an intent to merge and we are still working out the details right now. Until the ink is dried you never know! But the big deal here is that Eagle has built up incredible distribution and sales channels through a variety of mass market, hobby and gift stores. They also have a lot of operational processes nailed. We are pretty good at sourcing good games, doing PR and marketing. Glenn wants to do more Designer games and we want to get our games in wider distribution. So the combined companies really could be a lot bigger than their separate parts. Uberplay and Eagle's brands will continue to exist and produce the same types of games as before."
