Golem Wins Shared Pieces Design Competition

Golem, designed by Justin D. Jacobson of Florida, is the winner of the 2004 Shared Pieces Game Design Competition sponsored by this site and Abstract Games magazine. Golem was chosen by our panel of judges as the best of more than 50 games entered. Golem is a game of resource allocation in which players compete to move a totem and harvest more efficiently than their opponent.

The second-place finisher was Tonga by Grupo de los Lunes of Argentina

The other finalists in the competition were, in alphabetical order:

Drift by Jens-Peter Schliemann of Germany

House of Doors by Randy Cox of Indiana

Knights by Jason Smulevitch of Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Package War! by Rasmus Pechuel and Monica Shellman of California

Wizard's Garden - The Alesalitis Plant by Tim Schutz of Washington

Yin-Yang by members of the North Berkshire Game Group
