Dungeons & Dragons: The Sundering

By August 9, 2013

As part of a year-long Dungeons & Dragons event known as The Sundering, game publisher Wizards of the Coast announced recently that the first free-to-play D&D mobile game, Arena of War, will soon be available.

Arena of War will be available for iOS and Android devices, and it's described in a company press release as "a thrilling 3-D battle roleplaying game set in the Forgotten Realms. With mechanics like massive in-game events and multiplayer competitions, players are enlisted to battle in a modern-day fight against good and evil to help set the balance of power before the Sundering is complete."

The Sundering is set in and will "completely reshape" the Forgotten Realms, one of the most popular settings for D&D games, according to WotC. Events includes in-store tabletop roleplaying games, novels (The Companions: The Sundering, Book I by R.A. Salvatore is now available; five more are scheduled to be published), and the Arena of War mobile game.
