Formula DToday is one of the biggest days of the year for fans of automobile racing. First up is the Indianapolis 500, a classic Formula 1 race that has been run since 1911. Later, the Coca-Cola 600 NASCAR race takes place in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Both can be fun to watch for sure, but my favorite races take place on a tabletop. Here's a look at my Top 5 Automobile Racing Games, led by the masterpiece Formula D.

What are your favorite auto racing games? Let us know!

Um. While Indy have been a part of the F1 world championship for drivers (in the 1950s), the Indy 500 has never been a race for Formula One cars. Indy did have a real F1 race a while ago, but that was NOT the Indy 500 as it was run on the road course in the middle of the arena. Indy 500 uses the oval.
The Formula One race yesterday was held in Monaco, which is probably the only other open wheel race with a pedigree that matches Indy as it has been run since 1929.
