Matt Leacock's Forbidden Island was one of my favorite games of 2010, and this year game publisher Gamewright is bringing out a sequel, Forbidden Desert: Thirst for Survival. The new game is the first sequel in Gamewright's catalog, and it will challenge players to "throw caution to the wind and survive both blistering heat and blustering sand in order to recover a legendary flying machine buried under an ancient desert city," according to a post on the company's blog.
Gamewright says it asked Leacock to "create a game that would contain familiar elements while offering up a completely different in-game experience ... while upping the ante for those who felt they had mastered Forbidden Island." I can't wait to give it a shot.
Forbidden Desert, for 2 to 5 players ages 10 and up, is scheduled to be released this spring.
