It appears that Wil Wheaton's YouTube show TableTop, in which he plays board games like The Settlers of Catan and Wits & Wagers with his celebrity friends, has been successful enough to inspire at least one imitator. (The Settlers episode has attracted more than 430,000 views; the Wits & Wagers episode, more than 205,000.)
NBC recently announced that it has ordered eight episodes of Hollywood Game Night, an hour-long show starring Sean Hayes ("Will & Grace") based on Hayes' "real-life game nights." No airdates have been announced for the show, which the network promises will feature "A-list celebrities hanging out and living it up in a cocktail party atmosphere." Each episode will also feature two non-celebrity contestants, one of whom will win a cash prize.
The announcement says the celebrities on Hollywood Game Night will be "well-known names from the world of television, film, sports and politics, among other entities."
