GameTable Online (GTO) has unveiled an online version of the board game Axis & Allies: 1942, published by Wizards of the Coast / Hasbro as the 25th Anniversary edition of the classic Axis & Allies. Currently in beta-testing mode, the game can be played for free and includes the ability to play against computer opponents or live against other players, along with turn-based email-style play.
Axis & Allies: 1942 expands on a previous version of the game, Axis & Allies: Revised, which is also available for play at GTO. In addition to better balanced rules and new units, the new satellite map gameboard can stretch to fill multiple monitors and display every unit in play.
"We couldn't be more thrilled to have Axis & Allies: 1942 join many of our other classic board games available online at GameTable Online," Brian Hart, associate brand manager of the game's publisher Wizards of the Coast, said in a press release. "This faithfully recreated online game plays great and is a worthy addition to the Axis & Allies lineage launched years ago by the legendary Larry Harris."
"GameTable Online hosts a large variety of strategy games and we are proud for Axis & Allies: 1942 to join them -- it is our most ambitious game to date," Robert Eng, vice-president of GTO, said in the release. "Play how you like -- online or via email, against humans or computer opponents, in competitive tournaments or casual games -- GTO provides incredible value for your gaming dollar."
