Nigel Richards Wins National Scrabble Title

Nigel Richards of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, has won the 2010 Scrabble National Championship. After 31 rounds played over five days, Richards finished with a record of 25-6 with a point differential of +2213. He takes home the top prize of $10,000. Richards also won the 2008 Scrabble National Championship, he finished second in 2009 and 2002, and he finished third in 2004.

The second-place finisher, Brian Cappelletto, finished 21-10, +1231, and won $3,000; third-place went to Laurie Cohen, who was 21-10, +172, and won $2,000. Dave Wiegand, the 2009 champion, finished fifth (20-11, +1389).
