Scrabble Flash - Electronic Word Game

The American International Toy Fair is always something of a whirlwind, with hundreds of toy and game companies showing off their products in a 350,000-square-foot building (plus some off-site showrooms). Recognizing that I was only able to visit a handful of publishers, one game stood out for me on day one: Scrabble Flash.

Scrabble Flash features five electronic blocks which use "SmartLink" technology to communicate with each other. Each block displays a letter, and players race to make words. When a word is formed, the blocks beep and flash. The blocks also keep track of the time and the score. The technology is super cool, and I'm certain that Scrabble Flash is going to be a hit among fans of word games.

Scrabble Flash is scheduled to be available this fall.

(The blocks remind me of Siftables, featured in this video from TED Conferences. I'm also very excited about the future gaming possibilities of this technology.)
