Black Friday: Great Games at Big Box Stores

Friday November 28, 2008
If you are going to brave the crowds shopping today or anytime this weekend, here is a quick guide to some great games I saw recently during trips to Target and Toys R Us (many of which are available in other big box stores as well).

If you are not in a super-rush to buy your holiday games, my lists of the overall best games of the year will be available within a week.

Good Games for Young Children

Here are my recommendations for games to buy for young children.

Good Games for Older Children and Adults

Here are my recommendations for games to buy for older children and adults.

In addition to the newer games included on that list, I also strongly recommend the following recent games for older children and adults.

  • Apples to Apples: This game uses nouns and adjectives in such a creative way that it is among my picks for the best party games. For 4 to 10 players, ages 12 and up.

  • Electronic Catch Phrase: This excellent party game is on my list of the best games for 7 or more players. For 4 to 10 players, ages 12 and up.

  • Wits and Wagers: This fantastic trivia game (it's at the top of my list of the best trivia games, and it earned 4.5 stars out of 5 in my review) is for 3 to 21 players, ages 10 and up.
