Memoir '44 Mediterranean Theater Expansion Announced

Monday September 1, 2008
A Mediterranean Theater Expansion for Memoir '44 is scheduled to be available in October, according to game publisher Days of Wonder. The expansion includes British army figures, British and Italian army rules, and a new class of Special Weapon Assets embedded in infantry units. It comes with 75 figures (42 British infantry, 24 Crusader tanks, six 25-pounder guns, and three anti-tank Special Weapon Assets), eight new historical scenarios in North Africa, 44 new double-sided terrain tiles, new obstacles, markers and Special-Forces badges.

"The British army has been high on the wish list of many Memoir '44 fans; once again Richard (Borg, the author of the Memoir' 44 game system) delivers, with some exciting new North African scenarios and rules," Days of Wonder CEO Eric Hautemont said in a press release. "This expansion is just the next step in our ongoing development and support of the Memoir '44 game system."

The Mediterranean Theater expansion requires the original Memoir '44 board game (my pick as the #4 board game published in 2004). It is expected to cost about $30 and €25. Days of Wonder also said that the out-of-print Winter/Desert board for Memoir '44 should be available again in October.

Last month, Days of Wonder announced the Operation Overlord and the Hedgerow Hell Overlord BattleMap expansions for Memoir '44, which are scheduled to be available this month.
