Euchre - Card Game Rules

Thursday June 5, 2008
Euchre is a popular and relatively simple trick-taking card game, perhaps best known in the midwest and northeast U.S., along with Canada, Britain, New Zealand and Australia. Played with a 24-card deck, the North American version of Euchre is a great introduction to trick-taking games, but it also offers plenty of tactical and strategic depth for serious players.

We are having a tournament and I am to write up the rules. Re lone hand gives 4 points if made. I say it should give 4 points if the person calling it get Euchred (does not make at least 3 tricks
What is official rule???

(2) Erik Arneson says:

Joan: If a maker goes alone and does not win at least three tricks (i.e. gets euchred), the defenders score 2 points. (If a defender goes alone, he scores 2 points for euchring the makers, and 4 points if he wins all five tricks.)

To take the fun and challenges up a notch or two, try playing “Moonshot Euchre” (a form of bid euchre. It’s played with a double-deck of 32 cards; there are two of each A-K-Q-J in the four suits. When a suit is declared Trump, you have two Right and Left Bowers to keep you on your toes! There are three ways to “Go Alone” for extra points.

if the dealer deals a player a hand of 9’s and 10’s with none of them being a trump and said player calls for a new hand, does the dealer have to pass the deal to the next player or simply redeal the cards and retain his deal?? Please answer and save a marriage!

Can the partner of the dealer tell the dealer to pick up the card which was turned over and then the partner says he/she is going alone?
