Solar Energy and Wind Energy Added to Monopoly

The upcoming Monopoly Here & Now World Edition, scheduled to be available in fall 2008, will feature two new utilities -- Solar Energy and Wind Energy -- in place of the classic utilities Water Works and Electric Company. (Previous Here & Now editions have featured Cell Phone Service and Internet Service in place of Water Works and Electric Company.)

"When creating this first-ever worldwide Monopoly game board, we reviewed all elements of the game to ensure that it reflects today's global perspective. This included the utility property spaces," Phil Jackson, group executive of Hasbro Games, said in a press release. "In a nod to the efforts of countries worldwide to increase the effectiveness and availability of renewable energy sources, we decided to feature Solar Energy and Wind Energy on the game board."
