BattleLore Expansion - Call to Arms

The first expansion for BattleLore, my pick as the #1 game of 2006, will be available this month. BattleLore puts players in control of armies that mesh history and fantasy on a battlefield in medieval Europe, with characters like wizards, clerics, warriors, Iron Dwarves and more.

Call to Arms, according to publisher Days of Wonder, offers a new, card-driven method to deploy custom troops and armies onto the battlefields. "The deployment mechanics introduced in this expansion mimic the medieval deployments of yore, providing you with a uniquely fun and enjoyable way to customize your troops and deploy your armies," the company said in a press release. Call to Arms includes: a 20 page rules booklet, along with 6 new BattleMaps; 6 sets of Deployment cards, 10 Specialist cards and 8 new summary cards; 8 double-sided terrain tiles; 3 new obstacles, plus additional new tokens, banners and a new weapon (the long bow).

More BattleLore expansions are due out in June (Epic BattleLore) and July (Dwarven Battalion, Goblin Skirmishers).
