Star of 'Lost' to Play Yu-Gi-Oh! Champion
Malcolm David Kelley, the actor who plays Walt on the television series "Lost," will play Yu-Gi-Oh! against the current U.S. champion, Austin Kulman, 11, of Bellvue, Wa., this afternoon at Comic Con in San Diego. In a press release from game publisher Upper Deck Entertainment, Kelley said, "I've been collecting Yu-Gi-Oh! cards and have been playing the game for the past couple of years. I would be really surprised if I were able to beat Austin during this match!"Kulman, the youngest Yu-Gi-Oh! champion ever, defeated more than 350 competitors at last month's U.S. National Championship event. Kulman will represent the U.S. in the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG World Championship Tournament this summer in Tokyo, competing against players from 25 countries.
Since the games was first published in 2001, more than 15.8 billion Yu-Gi-Oh! cards have been sold.
On a related note, I'm hearing rumblings that this will not be the only news from Comic Con related to "Lost" and games... and remember that the "smart money" isn't always right.
