A 38-year-old mathematician from Montreal is the new World Scrabble Champion. Adam Logan won $15,000 for his victory at the 2005 World Scrabble Championships in London. He defeated Thailand's Pakorn Nemitrmansuk in the best-of-five final round, winning three straight games. Logan won his first eight games on the way to a 20-4 record in the preliminary rounds. Nemitrmansuk, who won $6,000, finished 18-6 in the preliminaries. Nemitrmansuk had defeated Logan once earlier in the tournament.
