Codename: Kids Next Door Trading Card Game
The Codename: Kids Next Door Trading Card Game will be in the spotlight during Kid's Fest at Six Flags Over Georgia on August 6 and 7, 2005. A 20-foot tall replica of the souped-up tree house from the popular cartoon series will mark the spot on both days, according to a press release from game publisher Wizards of the Coast. Kids of all ages will be able to learn how to play the game, win prizes and take home a special gift.
Tom Warburton, creator of Codename: Kids Next Door, will be at the Kids Next Door tree house to sign autographs and chat with kids, according to the release. On Aug. 6, from 2 to 4 p.m., kids can meet Kyle Massey, who plays Cory on Disney Channel's "That's So Raven."
"This new trading card game from Wizards of the Coast is among the very first toys and games created for Codename: Kids Next Door, consistently one of Cartoon Network's highest-rated original programs of the week and an anchor for Fridays, our weekend prime time destination for kids," said John Friend, senior vice president of Cartoon Network Enterprises, in the release.
An entry-level, two-player game, Codename: Kids Next Door TCG starts players with a deck of cards featuring the five international agents on 5 different color cards. On their turn, players decide if they want to engage in a face-off competition using their top card, or instead place that card into the Kids Next Door tree house headquarters. Cards placed in the tree house help boost the power of cards that are played in future face-offs.
When cards are played in a face-off, the player with the higher number (which may get boosted by a card banked in the tree house) wins the round. The first player to win 5 rounds wins the game, ensuring an entire game can be played in five minutes or less. When each player plays a same-colored card, both players race to be the first to slap a giant panic button placed on the play mat to determine the round's winner.
The starter set, which includes cards, a playmat and a panic button, has a suggested retail price of $8.99. Booster packs have a suggested retail price of $2.99. The game is now available in hobby, game and mass merchandise locations nationwide.
