WizKids Announces Stategy Board Game Tsuro

Tuesday February 15, 2005
WizKids recently announced plans to publish Tsuro, a strategy board game for 2 to 8 players, later this year. According to the 2005 WizKids catalog, Tsuro will be subtitled "The game of the Path." The catalog describes Tsuro this way: "Create your own path without your opponents steering you in the wrong direction -- or off the board! Tsuro is the quick-playing game in which directions can change as easily as the game plays. The rules are simple: you select a tile to build the next step for your stone to follow. Paths will cross and connect, and what you do affects all the journeys across the board."

"Tsuro represents an exciting new opportunity for WizKids," said Mike Samora, WizKids vice president of sales and marketing, in a press release. "It plays like a timeless strategy game similar to Go or chess, and the game's beautiful design and elegant play will make it a centerpiece of family entertainment."

Recommended for ages 8 and up, Tsuro is expected to retail for about $20.

Tsuro is something of a departure for WizKids. The company is best known as the publisher of collectible games like Mage Knight, MechWarrior and HeroClix.
