Essen 2004 Preview

Monday July 19, 2004
The annual game fair in Essen, Germany, is one of the most-anticipated events of the year for serious game fans. This year's fair is scheduled for October 21-24, 2004, and Rick Thornquist at GameWire has started his Essen 2004 preview.

Of the games already announced, I'm most looking forward to are Warriors (by Richard Borg and Alan Moon, published by Face 2 Face Games -- a joint effort from two terrific game designers), Jet Set (by Stephen Glenn, published by Plenary Games -- a clever, quick-playing card game that I played in prototype form), and the yet-to-be-titled game from designer Friedemann Friese (I've enjoyed his Fearsome Floors and Power Grid).

In all, it looks like a solid crop of games will be available in time for holiday shopping this year!
