Elayne Boosler to Host Balderdash Game Show

Two months ago, PAX TV announced plans to air a game show based on Balderdash. Now, comedian Elayne Boosler has been announced as the host of the show.

Produced by The Hatchery and run by the production team behind "Hollywood Squares," the half-hour "Balderdash" series is set to premiere later this summer, airing Monday through Thursday.

According to a press release, Boosler will host the outrageous showcase of comedic talents as a panel of three celebrity comedians presents two competing contestants with a series of sidesplitting bluff answers to a variety of questions from the game's original categories including words, movies, people, famous epitaphs and looney laws. The contestants make their way through several rounds for a chance at winning fabulous prizes.

Recently named one of "Comedy Central's 100 Greatest Comics of All Time," Boosler was first discovered by Andy Kaufman while filling in at a music and comedy club where she waited tables. Since then, Boosler has become one of the most well-known comedians on the circuit.

Her television writing credits include the Rodney Dangerfield special "It Ain't Easy Being Me," "Disney Goes to the Oscars," "Soundstage: Andy Kaufman" for PBS and NBC's "The Shape of Things," as well as guest appearances on hit sitcoms including "The Cosby Show," "Night Court" and "Living Single."

Boosler has also starred in several cable specials including Showtime's "Party of One," a one-hour stand-up comedy special that she developed and launched on the cable network, "Broadway Baby" and "Top Tomata," and Cinemax's "Comedy From Here" and "The Call." Boosler sells out theaters across the country and also performs at fundraisers for numerous not-for-profit organizations.

Shot in Los Angeles, "Balderdash" is a production of The Hatchery. The Hatchery partners, Margaret Loesch (Emmy and Peabody Award winner and former head of The Hallmark Channel); Dan Angel, Emmy Award winner ("Door to Door") and Peabody Award-winning producer and writer ("Goosebumps," "X-Files"); and Bruce Stein, former President and COO of Mattel, Inc., are executive producers. Game show veteran Stephen Radosh ("Hollywood Squares") is co-executive producer.
