Scene It? Adds TV Edition

Wednesday May 12, 2004
The makers of Scene It? recently announced an addition to their DVD game line-up: Scene It? TV Edition. Like the original, the TV version combines interactive DVD entertainment, including scenes, images and questions from more than 180 television shows, with a traditional board game.

I've named Scene It? one of the 50 most historically and culturally significant games published since 1800.

Scene It? TV Edition, to be published by Screenlife in October 2004, features some of television's most popular series including Mad About You, Charlie's Angels, Leave it to Beaver, Happy Days, M*A*S*H, 24, and many more.

The game is the result of licensing relationships with 20th Century Fox Film Corporation, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures Entertainment, TV Guide and Universal Studios.

"After the successful launch of the movie edition we had a huge response from customers to follow-up with an edition exclusively targeting everyone's favorite TV shows," said Dave Long, co-founder and CEO of Screenlife. "People have an emotional attachment to their favorite TV characters that rivals that of major motion picture stars. With questions based on clips, observation, memory and puzzle solving, everyone will have fun with Scene It? TV Edition."

Scene It? TV Edition is scheduled to be available in October 2004 for about $45. Scene It? TV Edition contains a DVD with more than 700 on-screen challenges, 600 trivia card questions, a game board and TV-themed collectible game pieces.

The success of the original Scene It? game was extremely successful, selling more units in its launch season than Trivial Pursuit, Pictionary and Cranium combined in their launch seasons. In June of 2003, Screenlife signed a mass-market distribution marketing deal with Mattel, Inc.

Scene It? was also one of only five nominees for the Toy Industry Association's prestigious 2003 Game of the Year award; Scene It? Jr. recently received a 2004 Parents' Choice Award in the Fun Stuff category from the Parents' Choice Foundation.
