Hasbro Wins Lawsuit Settlement on Fake Beyblades
"Hasbro aggressively defends its trademarks and intellectual property," said Alfred J. Verrecchia, president and CEO of Hasbro, in a press release. "We are also pleased to be able to protect consumers by removing fake Beyblade product[s] from the marketplace."
Hasbro filed the lawsuit in the United States District Court in Boston against Perfect Deal, LLC; Market Point Group, LLC; Amit Raibi; and Daniel Cohen. As part of the settlement, the defendants have agreed to immediately stop all sales and distribution of the infringing merchandise, and destroy its inventory, as well as pay Hasbro an undisclosed amount in settlement.
Hasbro's Beyblade line, one of the top-selling toy lines in 2003, is a collection of high-performance tops that kids build and use to compete against each other.
Hasbro's lawsuit against Perfect Deal is one of several suits that Hasbro has filed against various individuals and companies in the United States, Canada and Europe, which the company said have led to the seizures of millions of units of fake Beyblade toys to date.
