What's Wrong with Monopoly?
Tuesday February 17, 2004
According to economics professor Benjamin Powell and economics major David Skarbek, Monopoly "is wrong on the central point of economic decision making: who is in control of what is produced and how?" In an essay posted by the Ludwig von Mises Institute, the two also say that "the game seriously misrepresents how an actual market economy operates." I'm not sure this comes as a surprise to anyone, but it is a fairly interesting essay.
