Heroes Incorporated - Game Preview

Wednesday January 7, 2004
A new company run by a former producer at Electronic Arts has announced plans for its first board game, titled Heroes Incorporated. According to a press release from Quest Machine Inc., the designer board game will "introduce players to the next generation of crime fighters [as] each player leads a dynamic duo of super-powered heroes against a legion of bad guys."

The goal is not only to stop the villains, but also to become more popular then any of the other super groups in the city. Each team competes for the same goal: to become the only officially elected and funded Defenders of Megalopolis.

In Heroes Incorporated, players are in a contest to strategically patrol the streets of Megalopolis, gaining rewards for each block they rid of crime. Fate and Super Villain cards add to the challenge. The game’s twelve original, unique heroes have their own super powers, which dynamically change the rules and strategies of the game. As players fight crime they also play cards to power up their heroes, build gadgets, go on bonus adventures, and acquire fame.

"There is a huge crossover between comic book enthusiasts and fans of designer board games," said Sam Clifford, president of Quest Machine, Inc., in a press release. "And even those who are not necessarily game or comic buffs will enjoy the easy to learn mechanics and incredible artwork of our new superhero family board game."

Clifford, a veteran of the computer and video game industry, was a producer at Electronic Arts on their popular Lord of The Rings games: The Two Towers and The Return of The King.

Heroes Incorporated is playable by 2 to 4 players and will be available for purchase at game, toy, comic, and book stores in the Spring of 2004 for about $40.

Quest Machine, Inc., headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, was founded in July 2003.
