Stargate SG-1 Board Game Due in January 2004

Tuesday December 9, 2003
Fleet Games has won a license to produce a Stargate SG-1 board game, scheduled for publication in January 2004.

The Stargate SG-1 game will be for 2 to 6 players, ages 10 and up, and is expected to sell for about $35.

According to a press release, "The excitement of the futuristic Stargate SG-1 universe is captured in the look and feel of the futuristic game board, detailed plastic Stargate SG-1 Goa'uld, Earth and Asgard starships, stargates and soldiers as well as Stargate SG-1 playing cards. "The game represents the stunning visual word of Stargate SG-1 with a full color box and game board, exclusive stills from the TV series, and several new illustrations."

A prototype was played by gamers at the International Sci-Fi Fantasy Creator's Convention in New York City and at Origins in Columbus, Ohio. Fleet Games' other game, Fleets: A Game of Galactic Conquest, debuted at the 2003 Toy Fair in New York City.

Stargate SG-1 is a science fiction television series which follows the adventures of a top secret Air Force team, SG-1, as they travel through portals called "Stargates." The Stargate SG-1 series was created by Jonathan Glassner and Brad Wright and stars Richard Dean Anderson.

Stargate SG-1 currently airs in the United States on the cable station Sci-Fi Channel and can also be seen in syndication. The show also airs internationally in several countries including Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, and France.
